In follow up to the “about us” posts, here is a teensy bit about what makes me, me.
- I love to scrapbook. I should actually say love(d) as I declared 2014 my last year of scrapbooking. It just takes so much time but I have scrapbooked the entire 18 1/2 years of our marriage so far. And what a fitting ending to my scrapbooking…these two awesome pages that a great friend made for our baby shower:
Meanwhile, I am switching to photo books. Much easier!
- I love to cook….well, not cook. Bake. I love to bake. I actually cannot stand to cook meals. For a little over a year now I have put meals up about every 3-4 months and we are finding this works really well for us. It is the only shot we have at eating a home-cooked meal at the end of a busy day at work. In fact, one of the things that I usually tell parents to do to prepare for baby is to get some meals prepped and in the freezer. This would be the ONLY thing we did to prepare for our girl, unbeknownst to us, as three weeks before she was born was the weekend for me to put meals up. I put up about 40 meals (crock-pot meals, lasagnas, meat balls, ham balls, etc). We’ve tried really hard to not dip into these much while I’ve been home, rather are saving them for when I am back to work.
- I love to sleep. My brother teases that both my Mother and I have horizontal disease. It is true. Lainey is changing this. Quickly.
- I lack common sense. I am very smart…very “book-smart”. But, the truth is, I wouldn’t last on the streets for a single night! There is a whole host of stories to demonstrate this!
- I love to craft and work on house projects. Except for knitting or crochet. Never ask me to try to learn this. EVER. I may get all crazy-eyed and such. Just ask my sister and nieces. A few things I have made:
And the project I finished most recently (I love, love, love!!!). These are all words that Adam and I affiliate with where we grew up in Montana.
- I love to shop. ‘Nuff said.
- I love to read. While I enjoy using my tablet at night before bed to read, there is still nothing like turning the pages in a real book!
- I love to garden, and put up veggies for the winter. I love to can my own tomatoes, pizza sauce, pickles, peaches, etc.
- I love me some Downton. Downton Abbey that is! And, I am more than a season behind so no spoilers please!
- I love to get pedicures. It is not unheard of for Aunt Shana to treat the nieces to pedicures so Aunt Shana can also get a pedicure! See how that works?
- I don’t like my food to touch different foods on my plate. I think there is a name for this syndrome but cannot recall it. I also eat my pizza in layers. Cheese first, top layer of the crust and then the bottom layer of the crust. Yum.
- I am a fish. Adam is a puppy dog. Several years ago at a Women of Faith conference Andy Andrews spoke about people’s different personalities and how this relates to our needs in life. Adam is a puppy…he needs to be loved on, touched, held….he needs attention. I am a fish, for the most part. Although, I do enjoy some hand-holding and attention. Otherwise, just keep my fish bowl clean and I am a happy camper!
- I like to sleep in the backseat on road trips. Well, not anymore. At least not until Lainey is big enough and I can boot her to the front.
- I’ve been a sister and daughter my whole life and a wife for almost 19 years and have been in medicine of some sort for almost 18 years but now, finally I am the best thing of all…a mama to Lainey Noelle. I love her so much. There are no words for me to express how my heart feels.

Love your stories.
