Came across this YouTube video and was shocked. We went to highschool with Annette and she was wonderful then and still is. What an awesome song. We both liked it as it has her beautiful voice but is kind of techno-ish which Adam likes. I can’t wait to get her new cd. The song goes fast, take a listen:
So, she is well on her way to mending. We’re still lugging her 60# self up and down stairs and up and down stairs but otherwise she is getting around pretty well. She is supposed to be confined to a space no more than five times her body length so she is restless to say the least. I took the dressing off and that is when we had to put the cone on as the licker then went to work. Below are better pictures of her fractures that the vet actually surprisingly emailed us. Wow, I just returned from a day-long conference about sexual assault. I really wanted to just post a quick fyi about a couple of statistics brought up at the conference. Crazy, crazy I tell ya. I have been very lucky as I have only had to do three rape exams in my career. They have these “rape kits” if you aren’t aware that we use on patients that have been raped and the entire experience is awful. It is violating the poor victim all over again.
At any rate, one of the MOST startling stats brought up today is regarding college men. This is scary to me as I have a niece in college and another on the way. 75% of college men admit to getting a date drunk/high to try to have sex with her. WOW! 75%! FYI, Jordan & Becky!!!!
Where have we gone wrong? Check out this shirt for sale at Wal-mart. (After many complaints they took it off the market). I mean, this is Wal-mart, people. Come on!!!
Or, what about the “Buck Fuddy” shirt or the “Female students wanted for sexual research” shirt both from Abercrombie & Fitch? Geesh! These are places we all shop at. Very very sad.
I urge you to watch this complete video…I know I could have used it last week and am inspired now by watching it. I went to his website and his ministry looks amazing. I only wish he would be coming closer to here in his tour so I could go see him!
I just need to say I had a crappy day today. And, I love my mom. Weird, I know to write those two sentences back to back.
We checked out of the hotel this morning (STAYCATION OFFICIALLY OVER!), I had an abused patient this morning in the clinic, I picked Kalia up in Omaha as I mentioned below and money is NOT GOOD right now and then I just had a run-in with someone puking up spaghetti (sorry for the visual but that is what happens in medicine).
And, we are now at home as I mentioned. The SAME home that I love at times but despise at others, such as now. I look around and wonder what did we do? Why did we buy this place? And, how has my mother kept it in her to come here each day to help us with it? She is here early in the morning and staying until late in the evening. She is working, cleaning, fixing, loving…whatever she can do and all I could do tonite when she left is cry.
So, I end this day with a prayer to God for strength. Strength for my patients that are weak. Strength for my family, especially my husband and my mother. And, strength for me so I don’t give up because I REALLY want to.
