Back-up career

I have been broadening my horizons. Specifically in the field of carpentry/construction. We are madly trying to finish this darn house and therefore I am doing things I haven’t ever done nor want to ever do AGAIN!

But…I have to admit that I am pretty proud of my tiling job. I did the grout work in my “craft room”~an extra kitchen/bedroom that we converted for a craft room. I am thrilled to have a back-up plan in case this whole health care system eventually goes to pot. I can be a grouter.

Or, I think it would also be awesome to be one of those people that name all of the paint colors at the home improvement stores. For example, the craft room is “dandelion”. Well my father-in-law kept calling it canary yellow and I accidentally referred to it as daffodil. How, I ask you…does one decide the difference!

Just like our deck below…the stain I picked out is “banjo brown”. How awesome is that. Thankfully we like the color because I am sure the pure coolness of the name “banjo brown” probably weighed heavily on my decision to purchase that exact color!

Anyway I think it would be a great job to just have to decide what fun name to call a color. If you hear of an opening in this field or if you know where I need to go for this type of training let me know.

He mocks me every morning…

I strongly dislike mornings. I am always the last one to saunter into the hospital for rounds, I love to sleep and am not afraid to admit it. I keep things very dark when I wake up…practically showering in the dark even. I wish I liked coffee because I am sure it would improve my morning disposition, darnit.

With the renovation of the house the walls in the bathroom we are currently using are peeling BADLY…one morning I am rinsing my hair, cursing the fact that there are such a thing as mornings to begin with and I look up and what do I see…

Goodmorning!!

Goodmorning!!

Yep, he taunts me EVERY day…it looks like he is winking at me. I want to scrape his face off except will not because of the hilarity of the situation. But, he will only be a part of my morning routine for about two more weeks thank goodness and then he has to go…along with all of the walls in that room!

Did you know?

I love babies! While some may view it as unfortunate, I view it as a priviledge that I have seen babies at all ages of development in my practice. I have held an 11 week old baby boy, a 17 week old baby girl, a 21 week old baby girl…The 11 week old boy was beautiful. He had fingernails and toenails and was just perfect! I always ask my patients…did you know that…

A baby starts having hiccups 7 weeks after conceived

A baby shows right or left hand dominance 8 weeks after conceived

A baby has its eyebrows 8 weeks after conceived

A baby starts sucking its thumb 9 weeks after conceived

A baby has its toenails and fingernails 10 weeks after conceived

Baby girls move their jaws more often than boys in utero starting at 13 weeks (hmmmm….we do like to talk, don’t we?!)

Unsuccessful Stargazing

Ever heard of the Perseids? Me, neither. But Adam was determined we were going to watch it. It is a meteor shower that occurred yesterday and early today…I guess.

So, here we are lying on our backs outside looking for all of these stinking shooting stars last night that were “supposed” to be WAY impressive!

What we did see was two bats, three lightening bugs and I got three mosquito bites. Overall…we are stargazing failures I guess. That or it was all a ploy…some little man is up there in a satellite watching thousands like us lying on our backs staring up for the supposed meteor shower and he is laughing his behind off at us!
