Adam’s photography

For those of you that know him you know that Adam has a passion for photography. This started somewhat surprisingly several years back. It actually started when he was taking photos of the nieces/nephews at their sporting events. One thing led to another (ie: bigger camera) and here we are. I am told (at least he hints at me…) that he still needs a different flash by this fall for our niece’s senior year Volleyball and Basketball!

At any rate I am finally getting around to posting some of his photos. He does it just for fun. Check it out under the photo gallery.

We’ve been robbed!

Well, not really but kind of! This is kind of a follow up to my previous post. Adam LOVES to snorkel! A couple of years ago while we were vacationing in Minnesota he was snorkeling away…yes, in a lake. Strange, I know but he just loves it. Anyway, he came up screaming and ran out of the water and his nipple was bleeding. Yep…you got it. A bluegill bit his nipple.

And, then we see this book published last year and we think…geesh, we should have sold his story~we could have been famous!!

Our one chance of being famous and we missed it!

Anyways, poor guy…to this day when he snorkles he has a fear of something getting his nipples…someone should invent snorkeling nipple covers.

Snorkeling

My husband loves to snorkel. Absoultely loves it. So much so that if he goes on a road trip he’ll throw his gear in the back of the car “in case” there is a lake he wants to stop at for a bit. I’ve been snorkeling…only in Hawaii though~the kind of place where snorkeling was created for. Below I’ve posted some photos from when we snorkeled in Hawaii that we took and some that he took a couple of weeks ago snorkeling at a local lake here. Yuck!!! I couldn’t do it~nasty!

My husband, the amaxophobe

Adam and I have been together for over 17 years and I only recently learned something crazy about him. The man is petrified of back seats in cars! Well, let me reiterate. In all fairness to him it is only in two door cars. But he is terrified…really freaked by it all. So I got to thinking what this would be called and can only come up with amaxophobia which is the fear of riding in a vehicle. At any rate…check this video out~it even makes me amaxophobic…

Husbands/Fathers

This is a thought-provoking email Adam received from his cousin…

Gentlemen,
I am sending this email because this is a topic that I have studied and prayed about recently. This doesn’t have to go any further than this email, but I thought I should share.
Guys, as husbands/fathers, we are meant to be the head of our households. In Ephesians (5:22 – 6:4), Paul lays out the hierarchy of the believers household, placing us as the spiritual head or leader. In other words, as we go, so goes our home and families (spiritually speaking). This is evidenced by the saved philippian jailer who held Paul and Silas (acts 16:25 – 34). He was saved, and because of this, his family was too. Its almost like if we decided just to quit work, it would affect our whole family, not just us. Guys, if we decide to live our lives like hell, then we can expect our family life to mirror that. If however we take the path less traveled, our family will be better for it. Its our choice.
The word also tells us that when a man and a woman are married, the two become one flesh (mark 10:6 – 9). This means that your salvation guys also covers your wife. In the story of Job, satan attacked Job physically, took all he owned, and killed his children and servants. His wife survived because she was covered by Jobs faith, and his children lived on their own, so they were to work out their own salvation (philippians 2:9 – 13).
What I am getting at here guys is that the responsibility of our families spiritual life (which translates into all parts of life) lies squarely on our shoulders. I have been praying that I will have the strength to bare that cross with joy. I pray the same thing for you. So, what makes a real man? I think that its when our day comes to answer to the Lord, that we can say “as for me and my house, we have served you”. Gentlemen, I believe that is the greatest achievment that we can accomplish as men.

Afterthought: if you aren’t familiar with the above mentioned scripture, or if you are, I wish you would look at it for yourself and see what the word tells you. Don’t just take my word for it.
