Bathing update

Well, Adam and his Dad said we’d have a running shower of sorts by the end of this day. But you know how that goes. How ANY major project goes. It just so happens that the next morning I had a perinatology conference to go to in Omaha and had to leave at 5:45 am to get there in time….and I went with one of my partners so I HAD to bathe~small enclosed space in the car as it is.

I love my husband. He got up with me and filled one of our 5 gallon Culligan water bottles with hot water and helped me get ready. I wasn’t able to wash my hair until last night. I was starting to get worried…when do people start getting dreadlocks from not washing their hair?

Today Is A New Day! Tonite we have a shower and a choice of three different bathrooms to use. The shower and jacuzzi in the master bath are not yet ready but boy does it look close, especially considering the jacuzzi tub sat in the hallway for a year and in the bedroom for another year and now it is in it’s actual room where it belongs.

My Father-in-law had to go home today. We will miss him. He has helped us immensely this past month and I know although it was hard work my husband will cherish the memory of his time working side-by-side with his Pop. When he left he said he was glad to help us but that he’d NEVER work this hard for anyone else…only his son and daughter-in-law and other family if needed but otherwise NEVER. It was hard labor much of the time, ie: tearing out walls, etc.

We are both VERY tired. Adam, especially. He has been staying up sooo late every night working on things and getting up by 7am. I am tired and getting similar amounts of sleep but it is a different scenario. My brain is tired, I am not physically laboring like he is. Last night we had a darn appendicitis that I had to help do surgery on and didn’t get to bed until 3am and then saw patients this morning in the clinic. I was pleasantly surprised to come home to find my Mother here at the house this afternoon working along side my husband and his Dad. She, too is amazing and says she’ll be back for more tomorrow!

One thing we are looking forward to: our STAYCATION!!!!! On Monday there is a company out of Lincoln that we hired to come in and refinish all of the wood floors in this house. The house was all carpeted when we bought it and we ripped out carpet room by room to discover beautiful floors that just need some tlc. The problem is that you can’t open windows/doors and cannot walk on the floors for four days. We are planning on coming back to stay in the house Thursday night….they said we could as long as we wear socks on our feet only. So, yes we are having a staycation, kind of…I’ll be working everyday as usual and Adam starts his new engineering job in Lincoln on Monday so he’ll be working each day as well and we are just staying down the street at the local hotel. I’ll post pictures of our lovely accommodations later…can’t wait!
