Yay!!!

You ALL rock!! SOOOO many people were praying for Adam yesterday and we both thank you immensely. I was able to get him into another specialist and things were changed up a bit. We are very thankful there is no tear to the retina or iris as that was initially a thought after I spoke with an opthalmoligist that specializes in burns to the eyes (he wasn’t available yesterday but WAS super nice and visited with me on the phone).

Last night when he held out his arms his wedding ring was blurry (of course I was just glad at least he could see it so he KNOWS it is there…teasing). He was having difficulty focusing even on a computer screen or a text message on his cell. BUT, today is a different story…MUCH improved he says. He is blessed, we are blessed and he wants me to tell you that he thanks you for all of your prayers.

Undoubtedly there will most likely be some damage with loss of vision but we are hoping for minimal minimal minimal so we’ll continue to hold on and wait and see. If anything gets worse again this weekend he will see that burn specialist on Monday.

Blessings to you all!!!

Shana & Adam

a little giggle for your day:

The blonde went to the eye doctor to have her eyes checked for glasses. The doctor directed her to read various letters with the left eye while covering the right eye.

The blonde was so mixed up on which eye was which that the eye doctor in disgust took a paper sack with a hole to see through, covered up the appropriate eye and asked her to read the letters.

As he did so, he noticed the blonde had tears streaming down her face.

“Look”, said the doctor, “there’s no need to get emotional about getting glasses.”

“I know”, agreed the blonde, “but I kind of had my heart set on wire frames.”

Please say a prayer

Good morning all~

Just a quick note to ask you to say a prayer for Adam this morning. His left eye has taken a turn for the worse. He says his vision is 75% worse this morning than it was before we went to bed last night and that he can only see a foot at the most in front of him. I am working to try and find a different/better specialist for him to see. There is a specialist that works on patients with burns to their eyes specifically but he isn’t available today!!! Ugh!

If you want to feel old…

My baby brother is getting married. To a great girl~his high school sweetheart (in keeping with the trend in our family as we all did that). They are getting married this summer and I am very excited for them but it is bittersweet too, as it means he is truly grown up which is hard for me to accept. They will be living in Montana which is heartbreaking as it is soooo far away but somewhat comforting too as we hope to someday end up there (it may be in our retirement years but hey!). For those of you that REALLY know me you understand how special Jesse is to me.

They had their engagement pictures taken in Glacier National Park, literally the most beautiful place you will ever see, at least here in the U.S. on the mainland. Glacier is right where I grew up and is gorgeous! Take a peak and feel old (and a little proud)…like I did when looking at their amazing pictures.

Dancing in the rain

Dsc09763-2

Just a quick update on Adam. He is doing great!!! He was started on steroid on Monday and they have made the world of difference…he has eyes in there still people! And, better yet he can open them and is seeing pretty darn good. His left eye is still a little fuzzy at times and they are still “a little” sore he says. He actually has teeny little shiners now under each eye.

Mainly, though, he is celebrating his sight. Every once in awhile he’ll tell me…”look at me” and I’ll be all like I’m looking at you~is something wrong and he says he just wanted to look because he can. He told me last night that while it was raining yesterday he went outside and played with one of the dogs in the rain “because I could see the rain”. He keeps saying “I see you”.

Regarding his skin..he just says he always wondered what a chemical peel would be like. He is starting to peel a little bit and it is like dealing with a toddler keeping him from picking at it!

Thank you for all of your prayers~they definitely made a difference~

Overheard (and seen) at the local Target

I was leaving Target in Lincoln last night and there was all of a sudden a line of people trying to get out of the store. I swear to you…there was 7 people in front of me. SEVEN! So, I just veered right and went out the other door and as I’m walking by the “line” I hear…

“why won’t it open, what is wrong with the door?” (as all of these people are looking at the door peering over each other’s shoulders)

All of these people were staring at the automatic door, which was obviously not working. I’m like…geesh people, you can’t push open your own dang door! No sirree bob, we aren’t a lazy society…Not. At. All.
